Avoid Packing Regulations and Sell Locally!
Following all the regulations that states impose on large-scale tomato packaging plants can be overwhelming at best for the average produce farmer in America. One way to get around the regulations for packing tomatoes is to sell them directly to the end user or consumer, in the same place they are grown, or perhaps at a local farmers market. They must be sold in less than twenty-five pound increments to an individual consumer. By selling (and buying) local produce, farmers and consumers alike are providing important links in the food supply chain, ensuring healthy food supplies and healthy communities. These types of farmers markets and produce stands have been gaining popularity lately and will probably become more popular in the coming years.
